Ways to Help with the Campaign

1.     Put up a lawn sign at your home or business or find a friend(s) who would be willing to let me put up a sign.  I have only ordered 200 signs, so I’m going for strategic location (high traffic areas) rather than sheer quantity.   You can pick up, or I am happy to deliver and install if you send me the address.  I will pick up all signs within 24 hours of final election (another reason I need addresses.)

2.      Deliver flyers to a few streets in your area.  In the high voting areas, I plan to deliver flyers (like the one enclosed) to doorsteps either just before the primary election (September 8 – 14) or the general election  (October 27 – November 2).  This will include Cliffside area, Island area and Hillcrest/Lundstrom park areas.  If you have other areas you would suggest I do, let me know.  Or, just set out a few flyers at your business.

3.     Send an email to your friends and contacts encouraging them to vote and telling them you are supporting me.  I can send you my flyer electronically if you want to attach it to an email.  Also, sending a reminder to friends to vote on the day before the primary (September 15) and general elections (November 3) would be very helpful!  Without any national elections going on, it’s easy for people to forget to vote, especially in the primary.

4.     Write a letter to the Editor at the Herald Journal.  During election season, their policy is to discontinue letters related to the election six days prior to voting.  So, if you would like to do a letter, the best time to submit would be:

 Before the Primary : September 1 - 5

Or, before the general election: October 17 - 24

Letters can be submitted by mail or electronically to hjletter@hjnews.com.   They do sometimes call to verify that you are really the author of the letter.  Include name and contact information.

5.     Host a “Meet and Greet.”  If you have a group of people who would like to meet me, ask me questions, etc.  I would be happy to talk with them.

6.     Make a small contribution if you wish.  Any amount is welcome; $5 buys a campaign sign.  Unfortunately, campaign contributions are not tax-deductible.
